America is moving forward with online schools for our youth.
They are available in some states as public or as charter schools. The best part is that they are tuition free. Teachers are assigned to your students, some supply a computer, and materials are sent through the mail or online.

Online schools can be a wonderful opportunity for parents and their children. The opportunity to take a real part in your child's education without the stress of wondering if you're able to tutor them is exceptional.

Online schools give your child the chance to learn in their own way in a safe environment.

This is not to say public schools are not safe, it means they can express their own learning style. People learn best visually, auditory, kinesthetically, or sometimes a combination of styles. It's just not possible to accommodate these different styles in a brick and mortar school.

An additional benefit is that if you have a child that excels, online schools can and will accommodate a gifted child.
Typically the way a child that excels is handled in a brick and mortar school is that they are "held back" so to speak and are used to help those who are not at their level.

Children with Attention Deficit Disorder also have a difficult time in brick and mortar schools.

Sometimes the school has the professionals on staff to work with your child and sometimes they don't. Oftentimes the child with ADHD is misdiagnosed or labeled. Who knows better how to work with your child than their parent? Online schools allow that opportunity.

A major concern with online schools for children and youth has been voiced by Sociologists in the past and that is the lack of socialization that an online school lacks.

However if a parent is aware that socialization is a necessary part of a child's education it can be accomplished through other means besides public brick and mortar schools. If online schools are available to your child and you have concerns in this area; just think of the different ways your child can receive socialization besides what they receive at a brick and mortar institution.

Lastly depending on how important it is or is not for your child to attend online schools; you can move to an area where they are available if they are not where you currently live. Sometimes we forget that we do have the freedom to move to an area that provides a lifestyle more to our liking.
