A trainee police officer who drew red lines on a lateral flow Covid test to try and get time off work has been found guilty of gross misconduct.
Ahmed Anwari, a trainee with Lancashire Constabulary, told the force that he had to self-isolate at home after testing positive on the lateral flow.
He was subsequently invited to take another test on a Microsoft Teams virtual meeting, in which he again falsely claimed the result was positive.
But his deception was uncovered when he was asked to send a photograph of the result as proof, with it becoming 'clear that the test had been manually altered with drawn red lines'.
When confronted by senior staff, Anwari admitted faking the tests and lying about their results in order to stay at home under the Government's self-isolation rules.
He resigned from Lancashire Constabulary the next day.

Chairing a misconduct hearing on Monday, Chief Constable Chris Rowley found that former officer 2568 Anwari had 'breached standards of professional behaviour and in doing so had committed gross misconduct'.
He said: 'I find that had Mr Anwari still been a member of Lancashire Constabulary he would have been dismissed.
'Police officers must keep in mind at all times that the public expect them to maintain high standards of professional behaviour.'
Mr Anwari chose not to attend the hearing in Ormskirk and was not legally represented.
