They say dogs are man's best friend. 

And Victoria Beckham proved the saying also applies to women on Thursday as she sported blonde locks in cute throwback photos to honour International Dog Day  alongside a host of stars.

The fashion designer, 47, looked adorable in the Instagram snaps, taken when she was 13, as she joked she was 'en-route to Crufts' before she became a Spice Girl.    

In one photo, Victoria wore a pink top with lace detailing on the side as she held her four-legged friend Bambi. 

Her chestnut blonde tresses were swept away from her visage with the help of clips as she beamed at the camera. 

In a second snap, Victoria donned a blue co-ord as she ran with three sweet terriers. 

Captioning the snap, she wrote: 'Some retro moments for #InternationalDogDay! 

'Aged 13 with Bambi the dog in some very chic banana clips (they're back in right?

I've always been a trend setter) and then my starring role in the Goffs Oak dog show, I was on route to Crufts before being a Spice Girl got in the way.' [sic]

Meanwhile her husband David, 36, was seen sporting a grey tee and peroxide blonde locks as his chestnut dog rested on his lap for an Instagram video, celebrating the special day. 

The athlete balanced a slither of food in his mouth which his dog pried from his lips. 

His other dog tried his luck and also levered a piece of food out of David's mouth.
