'Nitish has done very good work': Bihar chief minister is the inspiration for Anil Kapoor's sequel to action thriller Nayak

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has found a new admirer in Bollywood star Anil Kapoor.

The 53-year-old actor has said he would like to show some of the good work done by Nitish in his forthcoming film Nayak Returns, a sequel to the 2001-hit Nayak in which he played a chief minister for a day.

Kapoor, who was in Patna on Thursday to kick off the promotional campaign of his upcoming television series 24, said Nitish had put his heart and soul into working for the development of Bihar.

"Nitish has done very good work in Bihar. I will try to show some of it in the sequel of Nayak," he said.

Expressing his desire to meet the chief minister, he said Nayak had not only become popular with the masses but its message had also been imbibed by many leaders.

"That is why I am doing a film like Nayak again," he said.

"Its story will be based on the prevalent situation in the country."

He said it was not necessary to join politics to serve society.

"One can serve the country well by remaining in one's own profession."

He said the country was passing through a difficult period from the economic point of view and it needed a prime minister who could steer it out of the troubled time.

Kapoor said he had decided to launch the promotional tour of his television series from Patna because of the love of the people from the city.

"Everybody comes to Patna towards the end of their promotional tour, but I decided to kick-start my tour from here. I hope that my television show will be liked by the people of Bihar. It is different from other television serials."
