Haute couture is meant to be aspirational, and because of this, the dramatic and over-the-top catwalk creations can be distracting.

But if you know what to look for, they are actually foreshadowing what's to come in ready to wear. Check out FEMAIL's cheat sheet of 10 soon-to-be trends.

Tres chic: Spring/Summer 2019 Haute Couture Fashion Week wrapped up yesterday in Paris, France

Ooh la la: Editors, stylists and the who's-who of the industry (hello Celine Dion and Olivia Palermo!) all attended the highly anticipated invite-only event

The '80s called: Alexandre Vauthier (pictured) and Balmain incorporated exaggerated shoulders into their spring/summer 2019 designs

The '80s power detail is back with a vengeance!

Alexandre Vauthier and Balmain incorporated exaggerated shoulders into their spring/summer 2019 designs. Think: Joan Collins on Dynasty, only bigger!

While shoulder pads are synonymous with bad taste for anyone born during the pop fashion decade, this is 2019 and they are now chic. Get it on the trend without looking like a linebacker by opting for tops with distinct shoulder construction (within your comfort zone).

Models walked around the Grand Palais in two-piece sets featuring angled shoulder lines, updated lapels and pencil skirts with kick pleat fishtail hems.

7) LATEX ANYTHING

Unlikely layer: Givenchy added pops of color to all-black ensembles with latex underpinnings and accessories

Latex gets a bad rap, but when the fabric is coming down a haute couture catwalk in Paris, it's safe to say that it's no longer taboo.

9) DRAMATIC BEAUTY

'Less is more' in the summertime, especially when it comes to beauty.

And while an effortless look made up of no-makeup makeup and carefree hair is the norm, models like Kaia Gerber were heavily made up at Chanel.
