Northern Territory Will SCRAP Its Border Rules

The Northern Territory will scrap its border restrictions within days, its government has announced.

From December 20, interstate visitors will not have to quarantine upon arrival in the NT under the new rules, regardless of where they've travelled from. 

But they must be fully vaccinated and get a Covid-19 test before and upon arrival and a third test six days after entering the state in what was hailed as the territory's 'biggest step' towards Covid-freedom.

'The key question will not be where you have come from but whether you are fully vaccinated or not,' NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner announced on Thursday.

'Anyone planning to come to the territory, 파워사다리 be left in no doubt, you will have to get COVID tested before you get here and after you arrive.'

'No one gets a free pass to the Territory without us being as sure as we can that you won't spread Covid.' 

Travellers must show proof of a negative test result received within 72 hours of arriving into the territory.

They then must undergo a second test within 72 hours of arrival and get a final test on day six of entering the NT.

Arrivals must also stay in a 'high vaccination zone' such as Darwin for 14 days when they arrive into the Top End.

Unvaccinated travellers will be still banned from entering the NT, unless they're returning Territorians, have an exemption or aged under-12. 

Unvaccinated travellers allowed in the NT will be required to go into mandatory quarantine at Howard Springs or in Alice Springs and foot the bill for the $2500 expense.
