ZenSports appears to be pivoting toward the U.S. sports betting market after focusing on international betting for Sportstoto the past year and a half.
The company took the first step to acquire a license in the United States through a deal with Strategic Gaming Management.
ZenSports has an option to buy the Big Wheel Casino in Lovelock, Nev., along with an option to operate the sportsbook at Baldini's Sports Casino in Reno, Nev.
That is important because ZenSports would need a physical presence in Nevada to offer its mobile sports betting services throughout the state.
The requirement for Live Draw a physical presence comes from the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Mark Thomas, the CEO and co-founder of ZenSports, said the deal was important for Sandakan STC the company.
"One of the biggest hurdles in getting licensed to operate an internet/mobile sports betting platform in the United States is the requirement to own or partner with a land-based sportsbook and casino," Thomas said in a statement.
"Through our great relationship with Strategic Gaming Management, we were able to secure the option to purchase this business in Nevada, which is the first critical step in getting ZenSports licensed and operating in the state."
Among the next steps for ZenSports is to follow the state's guidelines to get its mobile app up and running.
"We look forward to bringing ZenSports to Nevada as a premier gaming licensee as soon as our applications can be approved," Thomas said.
