John Barnes believes Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele would be a perfect signing for Liverpool this summer.

The club legend thinks Dembele's direct running and pace is tailor made for Jurgen Klopp's men and would be a natural fit.

Dembele's contract expires in the summer of 2022 so both he and Barcelona have a big decision to make in the off-season.

Jurgen Klopp's tried and tested triumvirate of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane has been broken up somewhat by the emergence of Diogo Jota this season and Barnes sees no reason why Dembele cannot do the same.

'One player that I think could make it at Liverpool is Ousmane Dembele,' Barnes told 'He would fit right into the front three because his directness is perfect for Liverpool's way of playing.

'Of all the players linked with Liverpool, he is a player that fans should be excited about. If he wants to continue playing at the biggest clubs like Barcelona the Liverpool is the right club for him.'

Dembele is direct and Liverpool fans could be excited by him, according to Barnes

Firmino and either Mane or Salah might leave if they want a new challenge this summer

A move for Dembele is only likely to transpire if one of the front three leave Liverpool in the summer.

Barnes added: Slot Online Terpercaya 'In terms of the potential to be successful, they won't get it much better anywhere else, it's just a question of whether they feel they want a new challenge.

'Some of them are coming up to 28 or 29 now and sometimes players move on.'

Dembele has struggled to live up to expectations in Spain having joined from Borussia Dortmund in a massive £135.5million deal back in 2017.

Barnes says Liverpool are right for Dembele if he wants to keep playing at a big club

Injuries have hampered him and it seems likely that his future is elsewhere despite showing flashes of the talent that attracted Barcelona in the first place.

Juventus and Manchester United are also understood to be interested with the 23-year-old having scored 10 goals and notched four assists this season.

But Ronald Koeman recently described Dembele as 'important' and declared his wish to keep hold of the winger next term so it remains to be seen whether the debt-ridden club will cash in or stick with him.
